Why scheduled charging matters
Two reasons: money and battery health. Charging on off-peak electricity rates can cut your cost meaningfully, and finishing the charge close to departure (rather than sitting full overnight) is gentler on the battery. Day to day, you also just want the car at the right level when you leave — not 100%, not 40%.
Where the Tesla app falls short
The app offers scheduled charging and scheduled departure, but they’re static settings you adjust by hand. They don’t adapt to a changed departure time, a day you need extra range, or a one-off "top up before the road trip." Editing them is a multi-tap chore.
Departure-time charging
Tell your assistant what you need and when: "Have the car at 80% by 7am on weekdays," or "I’m leaving for a 200-mile trip at 6am — make sure it’s charged to 100% by then." It sets the charge limit and schedule through mytesla.io and you wake up ready.
Off-peak and rate-aware charging
If your utility has time-of-use rates, you can describe them once: "Only charge between midnight and 6am," or "Start charging after 9pm when my off-peak rate kicks in." The assistant schedules charging into the cheap window.
Charge limits by context
Change the target on demand without hunting through menus: "Bump the limit to 100% tonight, road trip tomorrow," then "Back to 80% daily." It can also adjust charging amps and start or stop a session on request.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI change my charge limit and amps?
Yes. Through mytesla.io it can set the charge limit, set charging amps, start and stop charging, and configure scheduled charging and departure — all the charging controls the Tesla app exposes.
Does it know my electricity rates?
It uses the rules you describe (e.g. "only charge after midnight"). Tell it your off-peak window and it schedules charging into it.
