What this site is
freeteslacharging.com is an independent resource that explains the Tesla Refer and Earn program and helps prospective Tesla buyers understand the benefits available to them. We are not Tesla. We are not a Tesla dealer. We are not an authorized Tesla partner. We are an enthusiast-run site that publishes guides, calculators, and explainers about Tesla ownership, with a particular focus on the savings available through Tesla's referral program.
How we make money
This site supports itself in two ways:
- The Tesla referral program. When you click a referral link on this site and complete the purchase of a new Tesla vehicle, Tesla credits the referring account with rewards (such as Supercharging credits or other items Tesla chooses to offer at the time). Those rewards are paid by Tesla to the referrer — they are not a discount taken from you, and you do not pay any extra to use the referral link.
- mytesla.io. We also build and operate mytesla.io, a paid subscription service that connects an AI assistant to your Tesla. When we recommend it on this site, we have a direct financial interest because we own it. See the dedicated section below.
What you get when you use our referral link
The buyer side of the Tesla referral program changes from time to time. Tesla has, in the past, offered combinations of:
- Free months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised)
- Supercharging credits
- Discounts on the vehicle's purchase price
- Other promotional items (vehicle upgrades, accessories, etc.)
The exact benefit at the time of your purchase is set by Tesla and applied automatically when you order through any active referral link. The headline offer on this site reflects what Tesla is currently advertising publicly, but Tesla can change, suspend, or restart the program at any time. Always confirm the benefit on your order summary at tesla.com before completing a purchase.
Editorial policy
The fact that we earn a referral when you buy through our link does not change what we write. Our policy is simple:
- If a Tesla vehicle is the wrong fit for someone, we say so — including when a competitor (Rivian, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mach-E, etc.) is genuinely a better choice. See our comparison pages for honest tradeoffs.
- If Tesla makes a change that hurts owners (price increase, FSD price hike, removed feature, paused referral benefits), we report it on our news page.
- We don't manufacture urgency. The "limited time" banner on the site reflects a real fact about Tesla's program: benefits genuinely have changed, paused, and restarted multiple times. We don't push fake countdowns or false scarcity.
- We don't ghost-write praise. Every guide on this site is written based on first-hand Tesla ownership experience, public Tesla documentation, and verifiable third-party reporting that we link to.
FTC compliance
Under the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guides, we are required to disclose any material connection between this site and the products we recommend. This page is that disclosure. The relationship is: we receive a Tesla referral credit when readers buy a Tesla through our link.
If you'd rather not use our link
You're not obligated to. If you'd prefer to use a different referrer's link — a friend, a family member, or another Tesla owner — that's a perfectly fine choice and the buyer-side benefit is the same. Tesla also occasionally lets buyers proceed without a referral, in which case the buyer-side benefit may not apply. The point of this site is to make sure you don't accidentally leave the referral benefit on the table.
Our connection to mytesla.io
Some pages on this site recommend mytesla.io, a paid service (from $4.99/month) that lets you control and query your Tesla through an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. We own and operate mytesla.io. That is a material financial connection, and under the FTC endorsement guides we disclose it plainly: when this site points you to mytesla.io, it is recommending its own product, and we earn subscription revenue if you sign up. We still only recommend it where it is genuinely useful — it is owner software, so it is irrelevant to someone who hasn't bought a Tesla yet — and mytesla.io is one of several owner tools we cover alongside independent options like ABRP, PlugShare, and TeslaFi, which we don't earn anything from.
