Quick facts
| Trim | Range (EPA, mi) | 0–60 mph | Towing | Drivetrain | Starting MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cybertruck Long Range RWD | ~350 | 6.2 s | 7,500 lb | RWD, single motor | $69,990 |
| Cybertruck AWD | ~325 | 4.1 s | 11,000 lb | AWD, dual motor | $79,990 |
| Cybertruck Cyberbeast (tri-motor) | ~301 | 2.6 s | 11,000 lb | Tri-motor | $99,990 |
Tesla has also announced an optional range extender battery pack that occupies part of the bed and adds approximately 130 miles of range to AWD and Cyberbeast trims. Pricing and availability for the range extender have shifted multiple times; check tesla.com.
What's distinctive about Cybertruck
The Cybertruck is unlike anything else Tesla makes. Highlights of the underlying engineering:
- Stainless-steel exoskeleton: the body panels themselves are structural, not bolted-on cladding. Resistant to dings and minor parking-lot damage. The matte stainless finish doesn't need paint.
- 800V architecture: the high-voltage system runs at 800V instead of 400V. Practical effect: lower charging losses, lighter wiring, and the ability to charge faster on V4 Superchargers (up to 350 kW peak).
- 48V low-voltage architecture: the first production Tesla to run 48V instead of 12V on accessory loads, allowing thinner wiring throughout the truck.
- Steer-by-wire with rear steering: no mechanical link between the steering wheel and the front wheels. Variable steering ratio plus rear-wheel steering means a 32.4-foot turning circle — tighter than most pickups.
- Air suspension with up to 17 inches of travel: the truck can lift dramatically for off-roading or drop for highway efficiency.
- Bed: 6 feet long, 4 feet wide, 1,000-lb payload (Cyberbeast) to ~2,500-lb payload (RWD/AWD with options).
Real-world range
Cybertruck efficiency is significantly worse than the Tesla sedans because of the brick-like aerodynamics. Practical numbers:
- Mixed driving, AWD trim: 280–310 miles.
- Highway 70–75 mph: 220–260 miles.
- Towing at 7,500–11,000 lb: 100–150 miles between charges. The combination of weight, drag, and trailer aerodynamics is brutal on range.
- With the range extender (where available): add ~130 miles to whatever the trim does without it. Trade-off: the pack uses meaningful bed space.
What the referral gives you on a Cybertruck
The 3-month FSD trial and Supercharging credit apply to every Cybertruck order. The Supercharging credit value is more meaningful on Cybertruck than other Teslas in absolute dollars, because Cybertruck efficiency is lower — the same number of "credit miles" represents more kWh than on a Model 3.
FSD on Cybertruck deserves a special note: city-streets driving in a vehicle this large is meaningfully less stressful with FSD assist, and the high seating position pairs well with the system's blind-spot and cross-traffic visualization on the screen.

- AWD trim is the value sweet spot. The 11,000-lb tow rating, 4.1-second 0–60, and 325-mile range cover almost any pickup use case at $20k less than Cyberbeast.
- Cyberbeast is the right pick if you specifically want tri-motor performance, the unique badging, and the steer-by-wire-tuned-for-aggression behavior. It's also the only trim with full carbon-fiber wheel inserts as standard.
- RWD works if you don't tow heavy and don't need AWD — but most Cybertruck buyers will find the AWD's tow capacity worth the upgrade.
- Tonneau cover: the powered tonneau is a good buy for security and aerodynamics. It's a real range improvement at highway speeds.
- Wraps over stainless: the stainless steel resists scratches but does mark and stain over time (especially fingerprints, sap, and bird droppings if not cleaned promptly). PPF or a wrap is a popular addition.
What it costs to live with
- Insurance: Cybertruck rates have settled high but reasonable for a $80k+ vehicle. Tesla Insurance is competitive in supported states.
- Tires: the truck's mass plus performance compound on Cyberbeast translates to faster wear — expect to replace tires more often than a comparable F-150.
- Maintenance: low. The unique stainless-steel body needs care (soft sponges, no harsh chemicals, prompt rinsing of road salt) but no oil, transmission, or differential service.
- Federal credit: RWD and AWD trims fit under the $80,000 SUV MSRP cap and qualify for the $7,500 federal credit at point of sale, subject to buyer income limits. Cyberbeast at $99,990 does not qualify.
- Charging: efficiency around 2.5–2.7 mi/kWh in mixed driving, lower with a trailer. Use our calculator with those values.
